As is tradition in our house, we went to the movies on New Year's day.
2009: Marley and Me in OKC-Em'ry slept through the movie
2010: Chipmunks the Squeakquel in Sugarland-Em'ry lasted all but the last 20 min
2011: Yogi Bear in Katy-Em'ry made it through the whole movie and laughed and loved it!
We started off the new year by enjoying lots of new toys! Babies, babies, and more babies, are the talk of our house these days. Em'ry is a very loving mommy. Bossy, but loving! She is also very attached to her new jammies she got from Grandma Godino and first apron from Chris and Jessica.
Her friend Cade got a golf cart and oh the conversations they have on their way "to get groceries." And, luckily up until this week the weather cooperated and gave us lots of outdoor play time.

I faced Greg's biggest fear and hung Em'ry's new horse swing in the tree in our backyard :)
On January 12, I received a phone call from my dad with heartbreaking news that Nolan Ross Meyer had finished his hard fought battle after enduring a brain tumor and stroke. Words cannot express the flood of emotions that filled my heart and mind during that week and my trip home to celebrate his life and grieve with my family. I love that boy so much and he knew it. I was very fortunate to have been able to watch him grow and share so many beautiful moments with him. I have seen a mother's love tested and have so much respect for the strength, faith, commitment, and sacrifice Uncle Darren, Aunt Teresa, Blair, and Jackson made in order to continue to enjoy life and help Nolan do the same. I have so many pictures of Nolan and I from the time he was a baby up until the beautiful day when he was finally able to hold my baby. But, for the most part, they all look like this...
a happy boy and one lucky girl snuggling up to him.
You see, Nolan is special. Nolan comforted many hearts young and old. He touched so many lives with his infectious smile and hilarious jokes. He inspired people with his unshakable faith.
Em'ry loves her Nana almost as much as I do! :) I clearly remember my mom being 30 and it seems impossible that she could be the big 50!
It was really sweet of her to suggest a cozy dinner and something fun for everyone. So, Olive Garden and bowling it was!
There was another birthday party during January as well. Ms. Nancy's granddaughter turned 6! We were so excited to help her celebrate.
So, on January 12th, there was a sunset on earth and yet there was a sunrise in Heaven.
We were very lucky to be able to celebrate my mom's birthday here in Houston.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOPHIA!
Em'ry loves Monkey Joe's even though she is still a little too small for most of the inflatable houses.
