What a crazy week that lasted the weekend! On Wednesday, I stayed home with Em'ry because we needed to have the plumbing in our bathrooms checked out. A day 0ff work and $60 later, the verdict was there is no problem. Okay, fine. Em'ry and I loved our day together.
Late Wednesday night, Em'ry and I were playing and she didn't want to go to bed. I pretended like I was chasing her and in the middle of the laughter she slipped on a rug in my bathroom. She was hurt. She was screaming before she even hit the floor. I knew something was really wrong because I immediatly picked her up and she was screeching in pain. She always stops crying when I pick her up. Even when she hits her head it only last 10-30 seconds. Nope, 30 minutes roll around and she is still screaming. By now she is saying, "I'm hurting too bad! I need to go to the doctor!" Ugh! Her leg isn't bruised or swollen but she insists. I didn't really want to take her to the emergency so I called her pediatrician. She suggests tylenol through the night and taking her to the doctor early Thursday morning.
Em'ry didn't sleep well, of course. because she was in pain. I called in and Greg went to work. I'm so thankful that Brandi works in the same building and can help me out. She made my copies, set up my room, and checked on the sub. A big THANK YOU to her. Em'ry was happy to be going to the doctor. She kept telling me that the doctor would give her medicine to make her better. Well, the doctor check her out, Em'ry screamed, had me put her down and step away, Em'ry screamed, told Em'ry to walk to Mommy, Em'ry tried and her leg collapsed as she attempted to step. The doctor said that because the leg wasn't swollen or bruised she expected it to be broken and sent us for x-rays.
Em'ry and I went home to wait and rest. The x-rays came back normal and we were thrilled. But, by bedtime Em'ry still couldn't stand which means she couldn't go to daycare. Greg decided he would stay home with her and they could rest together.
Em'ry was in a great mood in the doctor's office, all day Thursday and Friday. I just felt so sorry for her because she was immobile which you know is heartbreaking for a 22mo old. Well, the cheerfulness wore off. By Saturday morning she was tired of being held and mad that she couldn't walk. We encouraged her to try but her good leg would just shake and she would scream any time her right toe would touch the ground.
The kicker: My best friend from college was in town with her husband for a coaching clinic! We had plans! So, in an effort to get Em'ry's mind off her foot, we decided let's just include her. And, we went shopping! The indoor outlet right by our house has a carousel and Em'ry loves to shop so that was a great way to pass the time.
Em'ry fell in love with Ashley which thrilled her because we hadn't seen each other since July 4th and at that point Em'ry wouldn't have anything to do with her. Every time she would go into a dressing room Em'ry would say, "I need my Ashley."
Getting Em'ry to take to Teddy took a little longer. Not until we stopped for lunch on their way out of town did she agree to be photographed with him. Teddy has been on a search for America's Best BBQ for two years now. So, we took him to the Swinging Door and he claims it made his TOP 10!
After lunch, Ashley and Teddy headed home and we headed to the pumpkin patch! We needed decorations for our front yard and wanted to take advantage of the great weather. Em'ry loved it!
Here she is standing for the first time in 4 days! We let her pick whatever she wanted and it proved to be motivation!
We are looking forward to a full recovery! My arm and back are aching from carrying her around for the past few days. We are sending her to Ms. Nancy's tomorrow with hopes that she will attempt to walk in order to play. If not, she can crawl and will still be happy to be back with her friends!
Poor baby!!! I hope she starts feeling better.
